Sensory Friendly : Trunk or Treat

Trunk or Treat

RISE for Autism's annual Trunk or Treat promotes a safer and more inclusive celebration to the traditional Halloween festivity. Our event understands that individuals with disabilities of all ages may struggle or be excluded from typical trick-or-treating due to: social skills, physical accessibility, communication, allergies, etc. RISE's Trunk or Treat facilitates a lower sensory demand on guests by providing an environment with no harsh lights nor sounds, and many treats delivered in accordance with the Teal Pumpkin Project (non-edible, ex. stickers). Guests and their families can also use the event to practice the skills associated with trick-or-treating prior to the big day. Our Trunk or Treat is a family-friendly event and we encourage siblings to participate as well! Participants of all ages are welcome to join us for Trunk or Treating, games, crafts, activities, and much more!

Sensory Friendly: Breakfast with Santa

Breakfast with Santa

RISE for Autism's annual Sensory Friendly Breakfast with Santa allows special needs families to participate in the magic of Christmas in a low stimuli, stress-free environment. Rather than fighting the noisy and chaotic crowds at the mall, special needs families can enjoy a free pancake breakfast (gluten free available upon request) and meet with Santa on their own time! Families enjoy breakfast, crafts, games, a visit with Santa, and a small gift on behalf of RISE. We also have volunteers that assist in personal photos with Santa, which means less sensory input from the flashing lights of typical Santa-photographed events. The breakfast is staggered into two time frames to keep the event intimate and stress free. This event sells out very quickly- so please stay tuned for registration to open.

Stay tuned for information about our 2020 Breakfast with Santa!

Save the date! The 2020 Breakfast with Santa will be on Sunday, December 6 at the Applebees in Crofton. Registration will open in November 2020.
