iCAN! Shine Bike Camp

**Please note, this year's bike camp has been cancelled due to the outbreak of COVID-19. All information regarding bike camp in the future will be posted as time progresses**

RISE is happy to partner with iCan! Shine for their week-long iCan! Bike camp. iCan Shine is a 510(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2007 that teaches individuals with disabilities to ride a conventional two-wheel bicycle through it’s five-day iCan Bike program.  Through custom-designed bike equipment, each camp participant attends camp for 75-minutes each day for five consecutive days.

Volunteers NEEDED

Please consider volunteering!

RISE for Autism needs 100 volunteers during this 5 day Camp for individuals with Special Needs. With the guidance and aid of 100 volunteers, 35 individuals will learn how to independently ride a 2 wheel bicycle.

The time commitment is only 75-minute increments, but don't be afraid to sign up for more than one time slot.

We appreciate any and all volunteers, but we REALLY appreciate volunteers signing up for the same time slots across the week. This helps the riders feel secure when they have the same spotters supporting them as they learn to ride a bike.

By Thursday, some of our riders will be riding with speed. This is a very active volunteer opportunity, please keep that in mind. As a spotter, you will be jogging alongside the riders. Spotters often take turns jogging a few laps, so the more volunteers, the better!

You will receive a t-shirt and service hours are available.

Volunteer Requirement

  • NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IS NECESSARY

  • AGE REQUIREMENT:  Volunteers must be at least 15 years old.
If you are under 15, please contact the Camp Host for possible opportunities.
